Create Professional Business Videos with Microsoft Clipchamp in Microsoft 365

Category: Microsoft 365 | Published: May 24, 2026 | officelearner.net

Video Is Now a Core Business Skill

The days of video being optional in the workplace are long gone. Whether you're recording an onboarding walkthrough for new hires, creating a product demo for clients, or capturing a how-to guide so your team doesn't have to sit through another live meeting, video has become an essential tool for modern business communication.

The problem? Most teams lack the time, budget, or technical skills to use professional video editing software. That's exactly where Microsoft Clipchamp steps in. Fully integrated into Microsoft 365 in 2026, Clipchamp lets anyone create polished, professional-looking videos directly in their browser—no installation, no training, no design degree required.

What Is Microsoft Clipchamp?

Clipchamp is Microsoft's built-in video creation and editing tool, included with Microsoft 365 Business and Enterprise subscriptions. It lives at clipchamp.com and is also accessible directly from the Microsoft 365 app launcher (the nine-dot grid in the top-left corner of any Microsoft 365 app).

Unlike complex editors like Adobe Premiere or DaVinci Resolve, Clipchamp is built for speed and simplicity. You can record your screen, record from your webcam, trim and arrange clips, add captions, insert background music, apply filters, and export a finished video—all within a clean drag-and-drop interface.

Key Features of Clipchamp for Business

Screen & Camera Recording. Record your screen with or without a camera overlay. Ideal for software tutorials, demos, and meeting recaps.

Auto-Generated Captions. Clipchamp uses AI to automatically generate captions for your video. This improves accessibility and keeps viewers engaged even without audio.

Stock Library. Access royalty-free stock video, images, and music clips to supplement your own recordings.

Templates. Pre-built video templates for common business scenarios: product promo, training video, social announcement, event recap, and more.

OneDrive Integration. Videos save automatically to your OneDrive, making them easy to share via Teams, SharePoint, or email.

Text & Titles. Add animated text overlays, lower thirds, intro slides, and outro cards to give your video a professional broadcast feel.

How to Create Your First Business Video

Here's a step-by-step walkthrough for creating a software demo video—one of the most common use cases:

Open Clipchamp. Go to clipchamp.com or launch it from the Microsoft 365 app launcher. Sign in with your Microsoft 365 account.

Create a New Video. Click "Create a new video" and choose a 16:9 aspect ratio for standard widescreen business use.

Record Your Screen. Click the "Record & create" tab on the left, then choose "Screen and camera" or just "Screen." Select the window or tab you want to record, then click Share.

Trim and Edit. Drag your clip onto the timeline. Click on it and use the trim handles to cut out any mistakes from the beginning or end. Use split (S key) to cut the clip at the playhead.

Add Captions. Click "Captions" in the toolbar. Clipchamp will analyze the audio and generate captions automatically within a few seconds. Review and edit any errors.

Add a Title Card. Click "Text" and drag a title template to the start of your timeline. Type your video title. Adjust the duration by dragging the edge of the text clip.

Add Background Music. Click "Content library" and browse Stock Audio. Choose something low-key and drag it to the music track. Lower its volume by clicking the clip and adjusting the audio slider.

Export. Click "Export" in the top right. Choose 1080p for best quality. The video exports to your OneDrive automatically.

Best Practices for Professional-Looking Results

Keep it under 5 minutes. Business videos are most effective when concise. If your content is longer, split it into a series.

Use a headset or external microphone. Audio quality matters more than video quality. Poor audio is the number one reason viewers abandon videos.

Record in a quiet environment. Background noise and echoes make professional-sounding recordings difficult. Close your door, mute notifications, and wait for quiet moments.

Use consistent branding. Apply your company colors to text overlays and title cards for a cohesive look across all your videos.

Always add captions. A large percentage of viewers watch videos without sound, especially on mobile and in open offices. Captions ensure your message gets through regardless.

Sharing Your Clipchamp Videos in Microsoft 365

Once exported, your Clipchamp video lives in your OneDrive. From there, you can:

Post it in a Teams channel or chat by sharing the OneDrive link

Embed it in a SharePoint page using the Stream web part

Attach it to a Viva Engage (Yammer) post for company-wide sharing

Include it in a PowerPoint presentation using the Online Video feature

Conclusion

Microsoft Clipchamp removes every barrier between you and professional business video. Integrated directly into your Microsoft 365 environment and accessible from any browser, it turns screen recording, editing, and publishing into a workflow that takes minutes, not hours.

Start with one small video this week—a software walkthrough, a team update, or a customer FAQ—and see how quickly colleagues start requesting more. Video communication scales your expertise across your entire organization.
